The frozen future
And he said something that really stuck with me. He mentioned how many times he’d thought about leaving his old job to pursue the career he truly wanted. But he always felt like his professional future was frozen.
That phrase, “a frozen future,” really stayed with me. It perfectly describes that feeling of being trapped, unable to move forward in your career. As he kept talking, I couldn’t shake that image from my mind.
It got me thinking about how the comfort zone, fear, uncertainty, and so on often hold us back from chasing the professional futures we really want. We get comfortable in our routines, even if they’re not fulfilling. But breaking out of that grip takes courage. It’s like thawing out that frozen future and finally daring to step into all those other new paths waiting to be discovered.
So, if you ever feel like your professional future is frozen, remember this: you have the power to break free. It’s all about finding the courage to pursue what you truly want and why, despite the fear and uncertainty.
It means, e.g., challenging the stories you tell yourself, questioning the status quo, and resisting the influence of both your own self-doubt and those who encourage you to remain in your comfort zone. It’s about recognising the golden cage of the known and familiar and daring to explore beyond its boundaries.
And of course, I am not saying it is easy; leaving the known and familiar is often challenging. It is indeed hard work to discover what is hidden in the frozen zone. But as the saying goes, “if the why is big enough, you find the how” – and you do not need to go down that path alone! Get the help and support needed. contact
